Anima work item 01a0825f-eb1c-7da0-b5b8-07e473afb27f.

Bounded execution slice of WI-26, unpacked 2026-09-08 at the user's request. The parent preserves the original acceptance contract and source history.

Scope
Replace the verified synthesis_not_yet_implemented response in crates/seshat/src/mcp/mod.rs with a typed synthesis result over curated Archive chunks. Reuse existing configured model and archive seams. Define candidate statement, source chunk IDs and confidence; return explicit unavailable/invalid-output errors. The old direct Wikipedia/Wikidata/ConceptNet idle path stays disabled.

Prerequisites
No unfinished hard prerequisite; existing main APIs are the starting point.

Acceptance and delivery
Fixture-backed MCP contract tests cover successful grounded synthesis, empty corpus, model unavailable and malformed output. No fabricated source IDs; every candidate retains the retrieved chunk chain. Publish a focused implementation Change.

Execution notes
Re-ground against current main before changing code; the planning baseline was b000e52b58. Inspect the parent PR/branch and preserve useful existing work. Produce only this slice and its evidence. An implementation needs a durable Anima Change and exact-head review/CI; a findings item needs a linked findings Document. A local commit, draft proposal or unrun experiment is not proof that a prerequisite is available.

Current readiness (2026-10-02): the exact source scope is complete and independently reviewed, so this PR is ready for genuine Anima review. This supersedes earlier draft-retention notes that cited only pending gates. Native current-head review and CI remain required; no approval, merge, or deployment is claimed. See validation/wi367-receipt.json for actual exact-head run.

Exact head b856f03f0576a7c5a63de2d2ba6b4e57805cea96, current main ad441fe9e2359a1bf315eda28a4b072cc56cee2d. Real merge-tree clean; branch is not already on main.

Branch now registers synthesis in lib/main and wires MCP handler, backend_name and success/empty/unavailable/malformed fixture tests; old missing-wiring diagnosis is stale. Merge-tree clean. Hosted docker-seshd red; canonical exact-head review/CI still uncleared.

Individual disposition also recorded in the Anima WI thread. No approval or CI gate was overridden.
